LEAD MUSIC TEACHER |
or LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE MUSIC TEACHER:
Who we are.
KIPP is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools with a track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. There are currently 141 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving over 50,000 students. Eighty-seven percent of our students are from low-income families and eligible for the federal free or reduced price meals program, and more than ninety five percent are African American or Latino.
Founded in 2004, KIPP Massachusetts (KIPP MA) is taking advantage of exciting K-12 education reform and charter movement opportunities in the state to expand from its original middle school in Lynn MA to a KIPP Region of 6 schools in Lynn and Boston to eventually serve over 2,500 students with several hundred staff. August of 2014 marks an exciting new chapter in the evolution of KIPP Massachusetts as we add our first Elementary School – KIPP Academy Boston Elementary.
What we do & why it matters.
KIPP builds a partnership among parents, students, and teachers that puts learning first. By providing outstanding educators, more time in school learning, and a strong culture of achievement, we are focused on helping all of our students climb the mountain to college. Every day, KIPP students across the nation are proving that demographics do not define destiny. Nationally, more than 90 percent of KIPP middle school alumni have graduated high school, and more than 80 percent of KIPP alumni have gone on to college. By 2015, over 10,000 KIPPsters will be attending colleges throughout the country.
