The NCAA Women†s Basketball Rules Committee is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as the NCAA Women†s Basketball Secretary-Rules Editor. This position is a four-year term, renewable once. The term will begin September 1, 2014. A modest stipend is paid.
Reports to: NCAA Women†s Basketball Rules Committee and NCAA Playing Rules staff liaison.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Record rules changes adopted by the committee, issue interpretations, and update the rules manuscript in conjunction with the Men†s Basketball Secretary-Rules Editor;
Adhere to publishing deadlines for publications;
Ensure the technical accuracy of the rules in submitting them for publication and in proofreading the corrected version(s);
Facilitate production of finished artwork of diagrams or equipment that the committee wishes to include in the published rules;
Act as the official interpreter of the rules between meetings of the committee;
Copy the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating, NCAA playing rules staff liaison, and Division I women†s basketball staff liaison on rules interpretations given by electronic mail;
Conduct rules presentations at regional officiating clinics for all Division I and selected Division II and Division III game officials in collaboration with the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating;
Conduct annual rules presentations to the Division I, II and III conference coordinators of officials in collaboration with the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating;
Provide rules content for instructional videos and DVD†s to be used by coaches and officials;
Develop pertinent rules content for ArbiterSports website, including annual rules test and quizzes, in collaboration with the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating, with final approval of content from NCAA playing rules staff liaison;
Conduct in-season teleconferences with the rules committee, inclusive of the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating and the Division I women†s basketball staff liaison;
Participate during in-season teleconferences conducted by the NCAA national coordinator of women†s basketball officiating for conference coordinators of officials;
Write and develop rules questions for annual rules survey to be sent to coaches, officials, coordinators, and conference commissioners, as approved in advance by the NCAA playing rules staff liaison;
Attend and present, as needed and approved, at the Women†s Final Four and Women†s Basketball Coaches Association Annual Convention;
Serve as an ex-officio member of the Women†s College Basketball Officiating (WCBO), LLC Board of Managers and WCBO Competition Committee.
Notify NCAA playing rules staff liaison of any rules presentations being conducted at camps or clinics throughout the year;
Perform such other duties as the committee chair or NCAA playing rules staff liaison may direct;
