Job Summary

The Broadband Systems Engineering Network Specialist team requires the ability to assess network and customer needs, and then determine the optimum solution balancing costs and network capabilities. Individual will partner with OSPE and other teams to respond rapidly to incoming projects. Individual must be knowledgeable about the current state of the TDS network and its capabilities, and must be aware of ongoing efforts to upgrade the network. Individual must be familiar with current programs including Broadband Stimulus, SHSD, ManagedIP, LCR, Switch Collapse, IPTV, and have a clear understanding of the network infrastructure required to support these programs and products in each market. Individual must be capable of creating high level designs and estimating costs quickly, and when necessary, produce detailed Engineering Packages to drive the equipment installation and turn-up.

Job Responsibilities Include:
Provide high level and detailed design and engineering input for all types of projects, including estimated capital costs, and allocations of those costs when needed.

Collaboratively prioritize work as needed to handle Expedites and Jeopardy situations in a timely manner.

Select and support and manage internal engineering contractors and external engineering vendors.

Partner with OSPE to create a seamless Engineering function in the Implementation pipeline.

Work with vendors to obtain quotes and issue purchase orders as necessary.

Work with Technology Development to update and maintain Standards as necessary.

Manage the Engineering process and workflow for continuous improvement; monitor internal customer feedback and conduct internal review sessions to ensure engineering output is consistent and high quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Network Specialist Required Qualifications
Associate Degree or higher AND 2+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks -OR- 4+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks.

Network Specialist I Required Qualifications :
Associate Degree or higher AND 4+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks -OR- 6+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks.

Network Specialist II Required Qualifications :
Bachelors degree or higher AND 4+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks -OR- 8+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks.

Senior Network Specialist Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher AND 6+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks -OR- 10+ years of industry experience designing, deploying, and/or maintaining voice and data networks.

Other Qualifications:
IP/MPLS/Ethernet routing and switching

Central Office or Central Office Tech experience

Transport technologies including SONET, ATM, Ethernet, POS, DWDM, WDM.

Knowledge of Ethernet switching, VoIP applications, QOS.

Familiarity with AC and DC power equipment and HVAC implementations

XDSL/PON access platforms
