Under the general direction of the Director, the Advanced Practice Nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for neonatal patients. Nursing care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nurse Practice Acts, and ANA Standards of Practice. The APN may participate in admissions of newborns in cooperation with neonatologist or the infant's primary care physician. The APN will attend problematic deliveries as requested and will participate in the follow-up visits in the Neonatal Follow-up Clinic. The APN will also participate in neonatal transport.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing Master's Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing required.

Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: Current state of Missouri RN licensure required. Certificate of qualification to perform as a neonatal nurse practitioner. BLS certification required and maintained.

Experience: Previous minimum of three years clinical experience in nursing practice.

Equipment/Machine Skills: Basic computer skills
