We are currently seeking a network engineer to fill a position in our Global IT department located in Canonsburg, PA. In this role, the candidate will become a member of the Mylan Data Network team and be a key contributor in the management of all Mylan networks. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure and services to support Mylan's business needs. The candidate will set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization. Although the primary focus of this position is to implement and support networks, the candidate may also be tasked with general support and build-outs including VoIP, video and other communication/collaboration related technologies.


Without supervision, deploy network equipment including, but not limited to, switches, routers, wireless, IP telephony and A/V equipment.

Develop network documentation including technical drawings.

Provide advanced troubleshooting, configuration and maintenance of complex networks.

Possess a high-level understanding of network switching, routing, wireless and other network related technologies.

Produce sound and secure network designs according to industry best practices.

Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and network services for both local and wide area networks.

Serve as high-level technical expert in regards to computer/network systems and associated issues.

Develop and/or maintain standards for computer and network systems, to include standards for wiring, equipment, system security, and routing protocol.

Assess need for any network reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.

Conduct research on emerging networking products, services, protocols, and standards.

Download and test new network software and/or technologies.

Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.

Provide on-call support for the corporate network and services.

Ensure the efficient and secure operation of the corporate TCP/IP-based network.

Perform other duties as assigned.


High-level technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards. A working knowledge of the Open Systems Interconnect Model. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Experience working with WAN providers to plan, implement, maintain and troubleshoot complex, multi-carrier global networks using Cisco equipment. Working knowledge of the latest equipment, technologies and traffic prioritization methods. Experience installing, maintaining and managing Cisco wireless networks.

High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to conduct research into network issues and products as required. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills. Highly self-motivated and directed. Strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Must possess time management skills, organizational skills, writing skills, and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years of experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

CCNP or CCDP is desired

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Working knowledge of non-standard numbering systems, e.g., base 2 and base 16.

Typically sitting at a desk or table. Intermittently sitting, standing, walking or stooping. May be required to bend; kneel; and climb steps. May require use of hands and use of arms. Medium lifting requirements.

Periodic travel is required.

Typically a normal office environment. Occasional work in telecom closets and server rooms is required.
