The Associated Press seeks a Newsperson for its Latin America (LatAm) Desk in Washington, D.C.
This position covers Latin America and the Caribbean. This newsperson writes, edits and narrates stories in Spanish using electronic news gathering and production equipment.
The newsperson writes broadcast-style scripts and advisories to accompany pieces. He or she edits audio and video and narrates it in Spanish. This position identifies stories of interest to members/clients and angles to pursue.
The ideal candidate has solid experience with all aspects of Broadcasting with emphasis in production of news for online distribution. The successful candidate should have demonstrated skills in digitally editing sound and broadcast copy. Must be able to voice the pieces in Spanish, be able to meet deadlines and react quickly to breaking news. Applicants must be able to work all shifts including overnights and all days of the week, including weekends. The ideal candidate should be highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work through obstacles to complete a variety of tasks in an extremely deadline driven, dynamic newsroom environment. Strong interpersonal skills and solid news judgment are a must. Experience editing non-linear video with Final Cut Pro or equivalent. The successful candidate needs to be fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
