Job Description
Must work on Saturdays between the hours of 8:30 am. and 3:00 pm.
Must also be willing to tutor when not delivering instruction in the classroom.
Responsible for devising through management objectives, plans, and syllabi in specified areas of study for assigned Upward Bound students and compatible with program goals.
Responsible for maintaining an academic progress and activities journal for each student and writing comprehensive final evaluations for all assigned students.
Will work closely with other Teachers and Tutors to assure continuity of instruction for the assigned students.
All staff are expected to interact with students and participate in general program activities.

Will work with students in one-to-one and small group instructional relationships.
Will work closely with Core Teachers, other Satellite Teachers, and Tutors to assure continuity of instruction for the assigned students.
All staff are expected to interact with students and participate in general program activities outside of structured instructional sessions, e.g. clubs, field trips, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s or advanced degree in the subject to be taught, or in a field directly to or allied with the specific area in which he/she will tutor, and three years’ experience in an educational setting; or the equivalent in the expertise gained from an unusually meaningful and significant series of related experiences. In addition to demonstrated competence in the subject/skills which he/she is to teach/tutor, the teacher must be proficient in the basic skill areas, e.g. speaking, reading, writing, and library usage.
A strong commitment to Upward Bound goals and a thorough working knowledge of the characteristics and needs of the Upward Bound student.
Be of a flexible nature, capable of deviating successfully, if and when necessary, from fixed or preconceived plans in order to meet unanticipated student needs.

Able to relate effectively and comfortable with people of diverse, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
