Third Sector New England (TSNE) provides management and leadership resources to help nonprofits support healthy, just communities. The Consulting and Executive Transitions Program provides capacity-building consulting services, focusing on executive and organizational transitions, succession planning, coaching for leadership and teams, and general consulting.

Position Summary This three-and-a-half month paid fellowship (September-December 2014) is an amazing opportunity to shadow nonprofit organizational development consultants in the field, to gain first-hand knowledge of the internal management of a nonprofit capacity-building firm, to learn about the theories underlying capacity-building consulting, to understand how nonprofit organizational assessments are conducted, and to learn about evaluation processes for nonprofit capacity-building efforts. This fellowship will be customized to fit both personal learning goals and TSNE’s organizational goals. However, some potential projects could include:
  • Shadowing consultants in the field, taking notes at meetings, analyzing data, and drafting reports for clients
  • Conducting surveys and interviews in order to evaluate and improve aspects of TSNE’s program offerings
  • Supporting internal innovation by helping staff members develop plans and execute pilots of new program offerings
  • Doing market research to support the expansion of TSNE’s programs
  • Evaluating internal systems and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Researching specialty areas within organizational development consulting, and developing materials for use by consultants
  • Developing TSNE’s training series and supporting event planning
  • Crafting communications strategies and supporting the development of marketing materials
  • Attending learning convenings of TSNE consultants and interim leaders
  • Conducting independent projects co-developed by the fellow and TSNE staff
  • Engaging in an organizational assessment of one of TSNE’s fiscally sponsored projects as a lead consultant
This fellowship is a great fit for you if you:
  • Constantly seek out opportunities for learning and growth
  • Manage your own time effectively, flexibly shifting priorities between multiple projects
  • Have excellent writing and critical analysis skills
  • Love taking on new challenges outside of your comfort zone
  • Enjoy making connections with and supporting your colleagues
  • Flourish in self-directed learning environments
  • Want to learn about organizational development consulting
  • Are passionate about TSNE’s mission
