Skilled Avaya Technician needed to support new solution set of Avaya CM8800/CM6 & G650's, provide hands-on maintenance of the telephone switches' hardware and software to include replacing damaged telephone switching equipment, programming and correcting translation tables, and providing telephone switch Morning Reports (standard NT telephone switch operational status report) to the COR. The contractor shall keep the equipment in operating condition consistent with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
Assist the principal network manager/system administrator in the performance of the following functions:
a. Detection and resolution of system failures/component failures/errors.
b. Network system operation.
c. Routine network software installation, upgrading, updating, and replacement per contract vehicle.
d. Routine network hardware installation, upgrading, updating, and replacement per contract vehicle.
e. Network database backup and restore.
f. Audit trail and ID/password administration.
g. Performance of first echelon maintenance including, but not limited to, updating user profiles and power-off procedures to protect the system during emergencies.
h. Modification of fiber patch panels to support system requirements and maintain system performance objectives.
i. Component and system failures.
The employee shall provide formal training on telephone switch operations and diagnostics to the military and Master Labor contractor switch technicians for four hours a week. The employee shall provide a quarterly syllabus of the courses to be provided to the Government COR or his alternate for approval not later than one week prior to the training. The courses shall be geared to the level of training required by the students. The employee shall provide practical technical training and be able to use the NT website for assistance in the fundamental training of beginner technicians; however, extensive training will be performed by the contracted Northern Telecom Certified Technician.
The number of students can range from 1 to 10. The students will use the web site for the basic training and the employee shall assist in answering their questions.
The employee shall provide a weekly syllabus to the COR not later than two days before the start of each weekly lesson. The employee shall conduct weekly lessons, every Thursday morning from 0800 - 1200 hours. The training shall cover Telephone Switch Operations and diagnostics to include the software features and hardware equipment for the NT SL-100, Option 81, Option 61, and Option 11 telephone switches. Instructions shall address NT's software for Passport Routers, Multi-service switches, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Alteon Switched Firewall, and Succession Software to include the Succession Communication Server for Enterprise 1000.
The employee shall be responsible for assuring that standard industrial, commercial and housekeeping practices associated with the training prevail within the training area. The employee shall ensure that trainees receive specific instruction regarding precautions and safety rules to include: avoidance of safety hazards, recognition of unsafe practices, importance of safe practices always being followed, and any other particulars which enhance and promote safety of personnel and safe operation and maintenance of the equipment. The contractor shall provide a copy of the safety training records quarterly to the COR or his alternate not later than two weeks after the end of each quarter. Training records will be reviewed by the supporting Army Safety Office.
SCOPE: Primarily responsible for providing technical assistance to maintain contracted
levels of system performance. This applies to the basic network/components, VoIP components, and
all subsequent phases/additions implemented since the effective date of the system warranty and
procured/implemented per the contract.

Must be able to pass drug screen, and background check Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience Security + Certification preferred Drug Screening: Must successfully pass hair sample test Must successfully pass background investigation Must possess excellent customer interface skills Certification Nortel / Avaya is a plus (but not required)
