JOB SUMMARY: |
The New England aquarium is seeking diverse cooperative education candidates to assist dive team staff with husbandry responsibilities supporting a 200,000 gallon Caribbean Coral Reef exhibit tank. Duties include SCUBA diving in the Giant Ocean Tank, record keeping, food preparation, cleaning, supervising and training volunteers, and performing some educational programs.
TO APPLY YOU MUST:
Have been instructed to apply by the Northeastern University Biology Co-Op Coordinators
Be SCUBA Certified (Basic Open Water) through a recognized SCUBA agency.
Be available to work 5 days, 40 hours per week including weekends
•Scuba diving in the Giant Ocean Tank at designated dive schedule
•Preparing food for the Giant Ocean Tank
•Maintaining cleanliness of dive team support and food preparation areas
•Cleaning exhibit, glass, windows, frames, reef structure, underwater vacuuming
•Feeding Giant Ocean Tank animals
•Maintaining exhibit feeding and observation records
•Maintaining exhibit dive log
•Supervising Giant Ocean Tank volunteers
•Assist with other duties as needed
•ESSENTIAL: Open Water SCUBA certification from a recognized agency
•Biology or related course work
•Experience with fish and reptiles
•Good physical health and the ability to lift 50 lbs
•Experience in diverse employment settings
