This position may be hired as a Program Manager or a Program Director depending on level of knowledge and experience.

The HIX (Exchanges) program is a major effort to prepare WellPoint for the implementation of the Affordable Healthcare Act in 2014 and beyond. The specifics of the SDR needs are as follows:

Job Function

  • Exchanges State Readiness Management
Job Scope

  • This program covers all aspects of supporting WellPoint’s 14 state plans and their leaders to successfully enter new Exchange markets in 2014 and beyond.
Primary Stakeholders

  • PTW, Exchanges Execution leadership, State Plan Presidents, State Exchange Leads
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages the end-to-end view of requirements, decisions, solutions, and readiness across IT and business to ensure all objectives are met for state.

Go-To for state team coordination, multi-disciplinary team through the readiness and build process (strategy, state planners / GRDs, enterprise business functions, IT…..).

Develop, maintain, and monitor state level milestones and facilitate integration of state milestones with enterprise programs.

Monitor and report progress and facilitate gap closure across stakeholders (ranging from governance to business and IT line leadership).

Track and facilitate closure of critical path decisions and escalate to Plan President / Exchange Leadership.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:
BA/BS degree desired, 5-10 + years of experience in related field or fields; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

MBA or a professional designation related to the field preferred.

Demonstrated leadership, planning and organization skills to ensure development and maintenance of relationships across the enterprise required.

Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint required.

Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.

Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation and partnering skills.

Ability to communicate effectively among many functional areas and to senior leadership.

Understanding of complex business processes required.

Project/Program management experience required.
