The clinical facility is the primary care facility for the 43,000+ students enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This population includes adolescent, young adult and older adult patients. The Nurse Clinician 3 primary responsibilities will be the administrative and clinical support to the UHS Clinical Nurse Manager for all medical clinics. The incumbent must possess extensive knowledge of growth and development across the age span and must be familiar with the characteristic health problems of the various age groups. The UW population also includes a large multicultural group of individuals (3000 students from 110 countries) and the nurse clinician must have a sensitivity to and understanding of cross cultural expectations and have advanced communication skills.

SALARY : Starting pay is $30.326 per hour, plus excellent benefits . This position is in pay schedule and pay range 11-41. A six-month probationary period is required.

JOB DUTIES : This position at the University Health Services, UW-Madison is an advanced professional staff nurse responsible for the complex direct and indirect patient care of individuals presenting to Clinical Medicine and to Youth Programs. This position will emphasize the administrative and clinical support for the Clinical Nurse Manager including special projects and outreach. The incumbent will assist with schedules and staffing in Medical Clinics. This position acts as a consultant to other medical staff regarding specific patient population. Other additional responsibilities include: participating in quality assurance, research, program and material development for a specific population based on best practice for the purpose of setting care standards .

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED : Qualified candidates must have registration or be eligible for registration as a professional nurse in the state of Wisconsin and have at least 3 years of experience, including at least 1 year of experience working with pediatric or adult patient population in ambulatory primary care setting and/or school setting.

Three years of progressively responsible administrative experience and RN experience, ability to analyze and assess issues and problems with minimal expert guidance, excellent written and spoken communication skills, computer skills, and organizational abilities, communicate effectively with patients regarding care and treatment plans, must have a sensitivity to and understanding of cross cultural expectations, ability to conduct patient assessments and recommend and implement appropriate plan care, ability to function independently and as a member of a team, ability to multi-task as well as the ability to demonstrate priority setting as well as work in a complex, fast paced environment, and the ability to evaluate programs, policies, and procedures.
