- Nurse Educator- Per Diem- Northside Medical
Responsible to ValleyCare Health System for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values.
Responsible to Academic Affairs for planning and providing educational programs and services for employees and the healthcare community. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.
Identifies learning needs of employees.
Develops educational programs for employees and the health-care community.
Provides orientation for new employees and employees that transfer to select job classifications.
Plans approved continuing education programs for nursing and other healthcare professionals.
Evaluates educational programs and services and revises content as needed.
Recommends an annual plan and budget for educational programs, services and resources.
Participates in select system-wide educational programs or services.
Provides clinical orientation/instruction and completes evaluation of nursing orientees as assigned.
Serves as a liaison, facilitator, and educational/clinical consultant for ValleyCare Health System departments and projects.

Master's degree in nursing, education or a related field required. If Master’s degree is not in Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
Individuals with a BSN may be considered for the job if they are actively pursuing a master’s degree.
Requires two years experience as an educator or two years recent experience in a clinical area with demonstrated ability to teach others. Previous formal teaching experience preferred. After orientation, up to one year’s experience on this job is required to perform essential functions and to handle emergency situations.
Current license as a registered nurse by the Ohio Board of Nursing required. Current
certification required. Certification in Nursing Continuing Education and Staff Development or certification in area of clinical expertise preferred.
Broad knowledge in educational process, adult learning principles, and continuing education requirements. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative and JCAHO standards related to employee, patient and community education. Ability to problem-solve, conduct meetings, and plan projects independently. Awareness of community agencies and resources.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, basic spreadsheets, basic presentations, and work with graphics preferred.
