Under the direction of the Section of Hematology and Oncology, this position performs the work of considerable difficulty as a member of the health care team assuming clinical decision-making responsibilities in the assessment and management of hematology/oncology patients. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for dealing with a variety of patients in a referral and tertiary care setting. Works with the Hem/Onc team and the Arizona Cancer Center in the management of Hem/Onc patients by rendering services, which are within the scope of licensure by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and professional training.
Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Nursing from a State Board of Nursing approved school and satisfactory completion of an approved nurse practitioner program. Excellent interpersonal, communication and patient teaching skills are required. Willing to work both inpatient and outpatient with occasional weekend days (shift rotation). Acute Care Nurse practitioner specialty required.
Three years experience in oncology is preferred. Experience in a teaching hospital or other academic health care setting is helpful. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred.
