Under the direction of the Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the assessment and management of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, under a medical collaborative agreement. S/he will complete patient's history and physical, review laboratory results and order appropriate tests, provide discharge instructions and patient education and monitor follow-up appointments. The Nurse Practitioner will obtain consents, monitor pre and post procedure status of patients; develop care plans for patients; document history, orders, notes and ongoing evaluation of patients; assure quality of care and standards are maintained; participate in daily rounds; and serve as liaison to referring physicians and external transfers. S/he will assist physicians with related duties as directed and perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience, plus a current New York State NP and RN license.

Must be able to adapt to flexible schedule. Excellent communication skills. Experience in oncology.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Columbia University and NYP systems and procedures preferred.
