We are seeking candidates for two nursing faculty positions with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, and Medical-Surgical Nursing (includes classroom; psychiatric/mental health clinical; pediatric clinical and/or medical-surgical clinical). Hiring for the position will depend on the expertise of the applicants. Responsibilities may also include teaching online courses for RN to BSN and MSN students depending on educational background and experience. Teaching will be on the Sayre and/or Mansfield campus. Advising a diverse population of undergraduate students; participating in program, department, and university committees; and undertaking a regular research program or other discipline–related scholarly activity involving students as appropriate. Making professional and university service contributions; advancing nursing at Mansfield University; and demonstrating excellence in teaching, continuing scholarly growth and service to the university (required for tenure and promotion).

Minimum requirements: Master’s Degree in Nursing. ABD status toward a doctorate in nursing or closely related field is required for tenure eligibility. Licensure or eligibility for licensure from the PA State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse. If the successful candidate supervises students in a clinical setting in NY, then licensure from the NY State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse is required. Must be prepared to function as an expert practitioner in at least one of the following areas: on a psychiatric unit with recent psychiatric clinical experience; on a medical-surgical unit with recent medical-surgical experience; and in pediatric clinical settings with recent pediatric experience. Candidate(s) must also demonstrate expertise in Physical Assessment and ability to teach Fundamentals of Nursing in the classroom and on a medical-surgical unit, if necessary. Requirements include the completion of a successful campus interview. Additional qualifications: Meet health agency requirements by the start of employment including immunizations or screening for measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, and varicella; valid BCLS for healthcare providers before the start of employment; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; and ability to teach, evaluate, and advise students, and demonstrate, through past accomplishments and behaviors, the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service ( and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission. Preferred: Doctorate degree in nursing or closely related field; masters level coursework in nursing education; experience in college-level teaching, experience with online teaching, and in supervising clinical learning experiences at the baccalaureate level; experience teaching classroom and clinical in Fundamentals of Nursing; certification in clinical area of teaching; use of technology in teaching; experience with simulation; evidence of scholarly activities. Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of official transcripts for all earned degrees and an acceptable background check report including any background check clearances required by clinical agencies.

Essential Functions:
Effective teaching of the principles, theories and techniques of nursing. Effective clinical teaching and oversight of nursing students. Ability to fairly evaluate and advise students. Ability to walk, stand, sit, lift, push and pull objects. Physical and mental ability to perform CPR. High degree of coordinated movement and object manipulation required. Ability to communicate and write effectively. Effective use of computer technology. Work cooperatively within the department. Travel is required.

Job Status:

Tenure-track position beginning with the 2013 fall semester (August, 2013). Courses may be taught at the Mansfield and Sayre campuses. Instructor or Assistant Professor rank (a minimum of an ABD is required for Assistant Professor rank). Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience.
