Nutrition Assistant - Patient Services
This is a regular, hourly, 6 & 8 hour shift length, Evening shift position, 0.625 FTE, 50 hours bi-weekly. This position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, generous 401 (k) plan, commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.
Scale begins at $14.19 per hour. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience.
Premiums: Evening - $1.10/hr, Night - $1.75/hr, Weekend - $1.00/hr
Assemble and deliver patient, visitor and staff meal orders in a high-volume, fast-paced environment to patients’ rooms or designated locations. Responsible for orienting patients to the A la Carte dining program, visiting patients who did not place a meal order, and assisting them as appropriate or placing a “pre-order” for them. Maintain cash bank and process cash sale orders. Responsible for retrieving soiled meal trays from patient rooms. Perform related tasks as required.
High school education or general educational degree (GED).
Current State of Washington Food and Beverage Service Worker’s Permit.
One year related customer service experience required. One year food service experience preferred.
Must demonstrate the competency to safely and/or accurately operate a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to the following: food delivery carts, base heater, coffee brewing equipment, alphamate pager key board and pager, fountain beverage dispensers, CO2 tanks, and refrigeration units.
Ability to provide quality customer service in a serious, sensitive environment. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one situations to patients, customers, and other employees of the organization. Ability to work with a wide range of staff as part of a team. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language at an 8th grade level. Perform basic mathematical computations using units of US currency, weight measurement, and volume. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, plating guidelines, meal order tickets, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to manage several tasks and set priorities in a high volume environment.
