This position provides indirect care for patients through food preparation, delivery and service in accordance with State and Federal regulatory standards. The individual is responsible for preparing and serving food products using safe and sanitary food handling practices while maintaining equipment/work areas as directed. Other duties include pot/pan washing, dishwashing, sweeping/mopping of floors, and equipment disassembly, cleaning/sanitizing and reassembly, inventory stocking and set up of special events.
Will cross train to help provide coverage for the cook. Weighs and measures ingredients in recipes and follows recipes. A ssists with various clerical departmental tasks as needed. P repares dessert, salads, and nourishments for patients on special diets and/or the cafeteria as requested.
High School diploma/GED preferred. Ability to read English at an 8 th grade level and perform mathematical computations at a 6 th grade level, as documented by successfully passing a math and reading test. Minimum of 6 months food service experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build cooperative working relationships with all staff members, patient families, and visitors required. Strong ability to work as a team, displays initiative, high accuracy, attention to detail and work without close supervision required. Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer skills required. Ability to reach, bend, twist, handle objects and lift/carry up to 60lbs. Pushing/pulling food carts up to 300lbs. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time required.
