Seeking a journey level examiner to participate in the supervision and examination of state-chartered banks. While the position involves fairly extensive travel throughout NC, and some interstate travel, examiners work a compressed work schedule, with every Friday off. The primary purpose of this position is to assess the safety and soundness of State banks, and their compliance with Federal and State laws and industry standards, by gathering, analyzing, documenting and reporting findings of examinations of the books and records of banks. The initial focus of this position is loan review. Bank supervision and examinations are intended to ensure the safety and soundness of the State banking system and promote public confidence in our banks. To accomplish these goals, examiners will analyze information to identify risk and determine overall safety and soundness of banks and discuss and report their findings with bank management and boards of directors and management of this agency, both orally and in writing. Good communication and analytical skills, sound judgment, and adaptability are important attributes of examiners.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Must have a minimum of four (4) years recent experience in the banking industry, primarily in the lending/loan review areas. Candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, industry standards and accounting/reporting processes applicable to banking; demonstrated ability to apply the above knowledge to analyze financial records of banks and identify areas of risk, material deficiencies, and violations of state and federal laws and regulations; demonstrated ability to present comprehensive and accurate findings through both written products and oral presentation; demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Examiners are required to learn regulatory software products, such as GENESYS and ALERT.****Work i nvolves extensive (UP TO 80%) overnight travel** Examiners w ork a c ompressed w ork s chedule w ith e very Friday o ff** Examiners may reside anywhere in the state of NC. Financial Institutions include commercial banks, savings banks, savings and loan associations, and their holding companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates.

Minimum Requirements: In addition to the above knowledge, skills, and abilities, candidate must possess a bachelor degree in a related field (banking, finance, business) and minimum of two courses of accounting or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
