The Regional Team Client Manager is responsible for growing business by identifying new spend opportunities and driving spend onto the OPEN Card. Client Managers will manage a territory of early tenure customers, high potential customers and high spend customers within a geographic market. Client Manager success is measured on the volume of closed spend opportunities, creation and retention of high spending clients.

* Pre-Call Research (20%)

* Schedule both phone and in person meetings with clients in their assigned territory
* Establish expertise by sharing best practices on how to optimize your client’s relationship with American Express
* Selling Time (60%)

* Learn about the client’s business through a needs assessment and size the spend opportunity
* Sell the American Express OPEN value proposition
* Seize a commitment from the client to move vendor expenses onto the Card
* Post-Call Work (20%)

* Close each opportunity by monitoring and ensuring spend is captured
* Partner with internal business partners, including sales support resources to optimize client experience

Qualifications

* Excellent Sales Skills
* Strong consultative sales skills including negotiation, influencing and collaboration skills, and a proven ability to close the sale
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Executive presence

* Effective pipeline management skills
* Ability to develop a daily, weekly and monthly call plan
* Relationship management skills to follow through and motivate clients to take action

* Broad Business Acumen
* An understanding and interpretation of industry and financial statement information.
* Strong business and financial acumen, understanding of business financials and ability to create a financial business case
* Ability to partner with clients across all markets/industries
* Strong computer skills, experience with SalesForce.com a plus

* At least 5 years of customer-facing investment, sales or account management experience (face-to-face sales a plus)
* Demonstrated background of success in a virtual environment
* Track record that demonstrates exceptional ability to obtain new business or grow existing business relationships
* Bachelor’s degree preferred
* Major in Sales, Marketing or Business Management preferred
* These positions are located in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee., Arkansas, Washington D.C. Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and Virginia, . Candidates should reside within 50 miles of the primary city indicated, work from their home office, and be willing to travel frequently for in-person client visits
* Extensive travel required to meet with clients – up to 50%– across a geographic region
