The Operational Support System (OSS) is an integrated suite of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) tools that supports the customer network and its processes. The OSS Engineer will be responsible for helping our customer work through some significant OSS issues regarding: network service assurance; enterprise email service assurance; performance management enhancements; and central portal reporting integration initiatives. This could include participating in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, documentation, and operational support of different aspects of the customer’s current OSS activities.
The successful candidate must have strong hands on experience with the Netcool Suite. Must also have an understanding of IT Service Management with an exposure and working knowledge of email Data Networks, and exposure to business/IT process methodologies such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) or eTOM. Additionally, you must be able to work with a team of OSS implementation engineers and coordinate incremental success towards the customer’s functionality requirements. The primary focus of this position is to work with the customer team members to analyze, define and implement the solutions. This is a hands-on position and will require the successful candidate to leverage their previous integration and implementation experience to satisfy the customer’s requirements. The successful candidate will possess the following minimum position requirements to be considered for this opportunity.
Understand existing ITNM, OMNIbus, Netcool Impact, TBSM setup
Work with customer to understand the requirement, develop functional specifications, design and develop/configure the solution
Develop reports in TCR/Cognos
Develop custom dashboards in TBSM
Implement and ITCAM-RT for server/application monitoring
Replace existing NetIQ and SiteScope USCC monitoring functionality with IBM Tivoli software.
Develop test plan and test cases and execute the UAT with the customer
NetCool experience with ITM, ITNM, inventory data and IBM Tivoli.
Define the plans for unit, integration, and system testing in support of these initiatives as needed
Reporting using SQL to support ad-hoc reports needed by the business
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a multi-tier environment to assist with potential production and system integration issues
Support the deployment and implementation of customer production OSS releasesg
Strong understanding of ITNM failover architecture
Strong understanding with ITNM Discovery Stitchers Enhancement
Strong understanding of ITNM Monitoring Policies
Participate in unit, integration, and system testing as need
Familiar with Omnibus Probe rule (NcKL) rules development
3+ years Network Management/Telecom/integration implementation of Netcool experience required
Security + certification required
Active Secret Clearance
Prior Consulting experience desired
1 - 3 years exposure to IT Service Managemen
Network Troubleshooting skills
Familiar with ITNM RCA stitcher rules development
Strong analytical skills required
System integration experience desired
Multi-tier environment experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Additional OSS platform experiences desired
Desired education, certifications, skills, experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems)
