Responsible for implementation of occupational therapy evaluations and treatments. Responsible for associated documentation. Requires knowledge of the behaviors, developmental stages, physical and emotional needs, life cycle changes, culture, and comfort and care appropriate to the population served. Populations served by department are identified in the department's scope of service. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Bachelors Degree Required
Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current certification as a occupational therapist in the state of Indiana or temporary certification permit.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR preferred or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Certification at point of hire or must obtain AHA Health Care Provider CPR within 1st week of orientation prior to patient care required. Resource added experience requirement: 2 years minimums experience and at least 6 months service in their current position before they are eligible, unless given manager approval.
Requires licensure (or certification) is considered minimal competence unless an event of error occurs.
Must have the ability to frequently work in a standing position and do frequent walking.
Must have the ability to frequently stoop, bend and kneel. Must have the ability to squat, lift, bend, and turn to transfer a patient between two surfaces or from a sitting position to a standing position and have adequate strength to perform task safely. Must have the ability to exhibit standing balance sufficient enough to assist patients with gait training activities. Must have the ability to exhibit upper extremity coordination and dexterity sufficient to operate treatment equipment, fabricate patient equipment and perform treatment procedures. Must have the ability to lift a 25-pound weight from the floor to a height of 36 inches above the floor. Must have the ability to physically apply 10 pounds of pressure in the act of performing CPR. Must have the analytical ability to evaluate problem situations in depth and come to independent, appropriate conclusions. Must have the ability to use independent judgment and discretion. Must have the ability to coordinate and complete a variety of assignments simultaneously, as well as, correctly prioritize and delegate based on caseload and patient needs. Must have the ability and capacity to document in a clear and concise fashion with appropriate grammar and word usage. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with patients? families, physicians, co-workers, supervisors and other personnel on a one-to-one basis with appropriate grammar, word usage and vocabulary. Must have the ability to respond and react immediately with unimpeded auditory perception of verbal/vocal instruction and auditory auscultation. Must have the ability to travel to any Rehabilitation Service location working as Resource.
