*Occupational Therapist- Per Diem- Northside Medical Center - 1242392 Description

      Responsible to ValleyCare Health Systems for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values. Responsible to Rehabilitative Services for implementing Occupational Therapy programs and contributing to general departmental function. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.


      Provides effective, quality OT treatments to all assigned patients.

      Communicates patient’s needs, progress and concerns through written documentation and verbal communication to interdisciplinary team members.

      Provides effective supervision to COTAs to ensure quality of patient treatment.

      Documents results of patient assessment/treatment according to Medical Records departmental policies and procedures.

      Supervises Occupational Therapy Aides as they assist with patient activities.

      Assists in scheduling and selected activities in the Occupational Therapy Department.

      Performs other duties as assigned

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association required. Previous experience as an Occupational preferred. After orientation, up to one month’s experience on this job is required to perform essential functions and to handle emergency situations.


      Current Ohio license as an Occupational Therapist the Ohio OT, PT, AT Board required. Certification in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required or obtain within three months of employment.


      Broad knowledge in professional area and in Occupational Therapy. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative, CARF, and JCAHO standards related to Occupational Therapy. Knowledge of AOTA guidelines, standards and ethics.


      Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


      Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, basic spreadsheets and work with graphics.


      Provides therapeutic services to the patient based on physician orders. Direct result of any error could have serious consequences for the patient. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of therapeutic care for patient. Directs and coordinates patient care services, and may be responsible for care rendered by other COTAs. Provides teaching plan for patients and assures that patient teaching is completed. Intervenes with patients, families, and medical staff when necessary
