Job Title: Oceanographer – Senior Programmer and Data Analyst
Location: Seattle, Washington (U-district)
RPS Evans-Hamilton is an oceanographic consulting firm seeking a highly motivated individual as an integral part of a team of specialized data analysts. We are seeking a self-starting individual with a positive attitude who can adapt to a fluid work environment and an occasionally demanding schedule. This person must have an exemplary work ethic, think critically, communicate and collaborate effectively with the team, be able to manage an incoming workload across multiple projects, and be flexible to work longer hours when needed to meet deadlines.
Technical experience must include understanding of different mathematical problem solving techniques for data analysis, at least three years of processing data collected by a wide variety of instrumentation, writing and implementing customized code in MATLAB for time series analysis, and familiarity with MATLAB handle graphics. Applicant must also be competent handling instrumentation, be able to lift 50 pounds, have a valid drivers’ license, and be comfortable working on vessels at sea. Supplemental capabilities might include experience with MATLAB GUIs and application design, databases, ESRI suite, programming in other computing languages, applied mathematics, and familiarity with dredge operations.
