Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants to fulfill the full-time role of Office Assistant 3 in the Student Development Center.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides new students with information about beginning their educational experience at the college. Primary duties include general reception duties to include managing a multi-line phone system, scheduling appointments, and performing a variety of clerical duties in support of the Student Development Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform reception duties for the Student Development Center to include intake and screening of students and the public, provide general information about WWCC procedures and activities, schedule appointments and meetings and schedule student advising appointments. Compose correspondence, and printed materials related to departmental policies, procedures, and operations; compile and distribute information relative to various program activities in the center; prepare documents and reports. Assist with special events such as student orientations, advising days, running start information night and student leadership conference. Manage multi-line phone system and route calls; receive, sort and distribute incoming mail; type general correspondence and forms for the Student Development Center; review various software programs and prepare agendas for bi-monthly staff meetings. Provide back-up support for the Program Coordinator in Testing and the Veterans Clerk. Provide monthly monitoring of purchase requisitions and travel requests.

Competencies & Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience required. Excellent keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Excellent communication skills across various educational and cultural levels, with students, faculty, staff and visitors, utilizing written, electronic, and verbal methods. Able to prioritize, organize projects, multitask and work independently in a fast-paced high pressure environment. Proven computer aptitude with applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Compose, send and respond to electronic mail. Utilize e-mail program functions such as calendar and meeting requests. Effectively coordinate activities, services and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operation of time. Ability to function as a team member, utilizing problem solving skills and innovative thinking to prioritize and multi-task. Accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Manage existing records system, reviewing schedules for compliance with legal requirements and organizational standards.

Conditions/Terms of Employment:
Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment, and successfully complete a probationary period. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. This position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative. As a condition of employment, employees must either become members of the Union and pay membership dues or, as non-members pay a fee in accordance with the contract provisions. Effective July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013, the salary schedule has been temporarily reduced by 3% for classified employees whose full-time monthly salary is $2500 or greater.
