This employment opportunity is with Aging and People with Disabilities, Office of Federal Resource and Financial Eligibility/Provider Payments Unit, which is part of the Department of Human Services. There is one permanent full-time opening located in Salem (Summer St NE). This position is represented by a union.

This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall these positions may be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2011-2013.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of this position is to aid in keeping clients living at home, with family or in a licensed facility. This position works with state and county staff by assuring provider enrollment information is accurately and timely data entered. This position also works with providers in resolving lost check issues. Performs specialized record processing activities requiring independent judgment to make decisions or select a course of action based on laws, rules, policies, and procedures within a particular program or operation.
Reviews applications, forms, or other documents for compliance with established criteria
Ensure all necessary documentation is provided and is complete
Prioritize daily work with established criteria
Data entry to be done accurately and timely
Responds to requestor with established criteria
Responds to email and phone calls
Organizes and maintains filing systems Attend unit meetings Other duties as assigned WORKING CONDITIONS High stress environment due to high volume workload with frequent interruptions. May deal with hostile and angry customers. Occasional travel with overnight stays. Requires a valid driver’s license or other acceptable form of transportation. Occasional adjusted schedule.

Qualifications & Desired Attributes:

Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Experience in data, word, or information processing. Experience using a computer/computer terminal to enter/retrieve data.
Experience in checking your own data entry for accuracy, quickly and precisely, to find and correct errors.
Experience processing documents with confidential and/or sensitive information.
Experience reviewing applications, forms or other documents for compliance with established criteria.
Experience providing customer services that included providing general and procedural information via telephone, in person and/or in writing.
Experience managing workloads with multiple and changing priorities.
