Position is on-call with varying hours and shifts. Various opportunities to pick up extra hours as available. With successful performance, on-call employees may be considered for positions with more permanent hours.
The employee performs selected nursing tasks and special nursing tasks after adequate training has been supplied. Work is performed under the general direction of a registered nurse and reviewed on an on-going basis.
Examples of Duties:
Assists and participates in development of total care plan of residents with physician, psychiatrist, nurses and allied therapists;
Participates in providing nursing care for residents;
Assists in rehab programs and bowel and bladder training programs
Observes and reports on residents' physical and mental condition; obtains vital signs;
Keeps records and reports according to nursing home policy;
Provides leadership and directs day to day functions of Certified Nursing Assistants and unit assistants on the team.
Assists with admissions, discharges, transfers, Notifies charge nurse of any change in patient condition;
Investigates and reports any allegations of abuse or care giver misconduct and ensures residents are treated with respect and dignity
Provides medications and treatments as prescribed by physician and psychiatrist;
Participates in nursing home's in-service education program; assists in training of Certified Nursing Assistants and new nurses;
Assists with employee evaluations, completes disciplinary action under supervision of RN as needed;
Assists with staff replacements/scheduling due to call-ins;
Contacts MDV or family of residents related to change of condition or concerns.
Receives MD orders, makes rounds with MD's, transcribes orders, and communicates orders to nursing staff and pharmacy;
Assists in care and monitoring of IV's per facility policy;
Provides support, information or education to residents or family members as needed;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have sincere desire to work with elderly and infirm. General knowledge of medical, social, and psychological needs of residents. Good communications skills; ability to interact with residents; experience in working with elderly or chronically ill
Yes - Up to 50 lbs.
The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. If more than 50 lbs. is to be lifted, then it needs to be a 2-person lift or aided by a mechanical lift.
