As our On-Call Part Time Child Care Assistant you will supervise the children of parents attending an instructor led Common Sense Parenting class. You will be responsible for explaining the childcare rules to parents and children, as well as monitoring the children’s behaviors to ensure a pleasant and safe environment. Should behavior problems arise, you will determine the appropriate discipline method to utilize with the child. You will lead the children in various creative activities and projects, as well as monitor toys and the play area for cleanliness and safety. Additionally, you will be responsible for recording overall child attendance and monitoring the required parent signatures as they bring their children in and out of the childcare area.
To be considered for this unique opportunity you will need:
High school diploma or equivalent
Be at least 19 years old
Some formal education in child development and knowledge of discipline methods that work best for children, as well as the ability to use behavior management techniques with children, such as positive reinforcement and timeout
Ability to work a varied schedule, which will include evenings and weekends
Ability to speak clearly and maintain positive communication with parents and families
Strong problem solving skills to resolve problems or behaviors that may arise
Ability to create a fun and comfortable place for the children, through play, positive social interactions, and activities
Physical ability and strength to lift children and move play area objects
