DESCRIPTION

One Click-One Call Project Manager
This is a temporary position to manage the one click-one call project being implemented for Pennsylvania transit under the auspices of the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association; a professional trade organization which provides leadership, resources, support and technical assistance, PPTA is a unified voice serving to advocate and strengthen the role of public transportation in improving the quality of life for all Pennsylvania citizens.

The Project Management position will average 20 hours per week and last from approximately 16-20 months.

The Project Manager's worksite will be situational; ranging from personal home office, rabbittransit (York PA) and the PPTA office (Harrisburg)

Project manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the project according to predetermined timelines, quality/goals and budgets. The Project Manager is responsible for scheduling tasks and communicating/coordinating with various team members to keep the project on track to accomplish the results. The PM reports to the project sponsor and communicates the progress or variations/deviations in the project, methods to keep the project on track, and any quality, task, time, resources, and people issues.

DUTIES

Job Responsibilities:
1. Works with Project Sponsor and stakeholders to complete project charter, outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget and timing.

2. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Completes work breakdown structure to estimate effort required for each task and a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed.

3. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities. Determines if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete project plan. If required, recruits and manages appropriate staffing resources.

4. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Leads, coaches and motivates project team members on a proactive basis.

5. Resolves any issues and solves problems throughout project life cycle.

6. Effectively applies methodology and enforces project standards.

7. Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.

8. Minimizes exposure and risk on project.

9. Effectively manages project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

10.Communication
o Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
o Maintains meeting minutes and actions lists.
o Holds regular status meetings with project team.
o Keeps project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
o Effectively communicates relevant project information to Project Sponsors.
o Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
o Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
o Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, business, or related field
  • Minimum five years' experience in project management
  • Prior experience and proven success in managing large information technology projects
  • Knowledge / experience working in the transportation industry, especially public transit, is highly desirable
  • PMI Certification is a major asset
  • Ability to manage project from initiation to close within guidelines
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software packages
  • Demonstrated leadership managing people
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strategic, operational and technical management skills
  • Rapidly adapts and respond to changes in environment and priorities
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from senior management and other departments
  • Valid driver's license to report to varying sites.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet stated deadlines and keep project on track and possess the ability to foresee the entire project as a whole at all times.
