In encouraging students to analyze the past, the History program at Ashford University seeks to help students develop a toolkit for thinking critically about national and international realities. This intellectual reinforces to the mission vision of Ashford University by reinforcing the University’s emphasis on producing lifelong learners with highly developed critical thinking skills. As such, the history program supports a number of majors and has a large role in the General Education curriculum in addition to its core work with students majoring and minoring in history.
The History program at Ashford University is currently looking for applicants with a strong background in Modern American History or Premodern/Early Modern history (field of specialization open).
The Online Associate Faculty member performs duties relating to online instruction including but limited to: posting faculty guidance and expectations, participating in classroom discussion boards, grading assignments and promptly responding to student inquiries. This is an online adjunct teaching position and reports to the Executive Dean.

• Work related experience in the area of your Masters Degree.
• College level teaching experience
• Doctorate degree in related field
• Experience teaching in area of degree
• Experience teaching in the online classroom
• Experience teaching in “non-traditional” settings to students
• Master’s Degree in History or closely related field (i.e. humanities, art history, regional area studies) OR Master’s Degree with 18 graduate units in history or related field.

Mental Demands: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to deal with stress associated with a fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks. The employee will be required to make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations, grasp and apply new ideas, communicate with various personalities at all levels and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office environment, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud .
