Who are we looking for?

Lithium is seeking an Operations Engineer who will be an integral member of our Technical Operations Team and will focus on supporting our 24x7 SaaS application, maintaining and improving existing infrastructure and planning and implementing new technologies in a high scale, high uptime and high security environment.

What You’ll Do

At Lithium you will help build and extend a SaaS platform that powers social customer communities for some of the biggest brands in the world. Our environment is an intense combination of cutting edge technologies where you will be challenged with scaling systems to handle terabytes of data and thousands of transaction per second.

Now is a great time to become a part of the Lithium Technical Operations team as the team is growing to meet the demands of our rapidly expanding customer base.

Responsibilities

Hands-on support of all Lithium's services and systems

Assist in the application release deployment process

Build and maintain Lithium's datacenter infrastructure

Monitor infrastructure stability, capacity and performance

Develop tools to build, maintain, and monitor systems

Write comprehensive documentation

Respond to incidents and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

Requirements

.

5+ years of Linux systems administration experience

3+ years in a 24x7 highly-available online services environment with 60+ nodes

Experience with configuring monitoring systems (Nagios, Cacti, Ganglia, Graphite etc.)

Experience with Java application servers (Tomcat, Weblogic etc..)

System build & configuration management automation experience (Chef, Puppet, CFEngine etc.)

Experience with shell and/or ruby scripting

Experience with Web server farms and load balancing

Experience with Xen or other virtualization technology

Excellent troubleshooting capabilities

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Bachelors degree with technical major or equivalent experience

Additional Desired Qualifications

RDBMS and NoSQL database administration and tuning experience (MySQL, Cassandra etc..)

Hadoop, Cassandra or other large distributed data store experience

Experience in server/network hardening and security best practices

Bonus

You contribute to an open source project or write a blog related to operations
