The JIEDDO (Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization) COIC (Counter-IED Operations Integration Center) was established in August 2006 and directly serves warfighters’ efforts to focus attacks on enemy networks employing IEDs. JOB SUMMARY: *The Operations SME interacts directly with the unit Commanders and JIEDDO C-IED Operations Integrations Centers (COIC) during the development of intelligence products that respond to Division or MEF Requests for Support (RFS). *He/she actively coordinates the support packages provided to meet unit and subordinate element operational requirements. *The Operations Integrator assists in fusing the operational and intelligence information available to the supported unit, providing and operational perspective to the products that the supported commander and JIEDDO COIC’s deliver, including target and network analysis packages.

  • The Operations SME also plays a major role in assisting unit elements in the formulation and integration of RFS to the COIC’s throughout the operational planning cycle. *The OPS SME SDE (Strategic Debriefer ) or OPS SME DEST (Detainee Exploitation Support Team) serves as a HUMINT Analyst in the CENTCOM AOR. The Detainee Exploitation Support Team (DEST) augments the capabilities of DOD units in the CENTCOM AOR by providing analytical support to interrogation operations. *The primary responsibility of the DEST HUMINT Analyst is to provide relevant expertise in order to identify key IED-related detainees and apply focused analytical support to exploitation of detainee knowledge of personalities, techniques, tactics and procedures; and logistical and financial capabilities as they relate to the use of IEDs by insurgent and terrorist networks.
Acts as an organization representative, learning customer requirements and communicating them to parent organization; staying abreast of organization missions & capabilities, and communicating them to external entities. Manages production of intelligence reporting from tactical to strategic level; creates, submits, and responds to intelligence requirements; targets and assesses intelligence gaps; creates and monitors analytical support products; conducts presentation of intelligence products. *Daily duties will include reviewing reporting; creation of PowerPoint presentations, network diagrams, and questioning plans; observation of or participation in detainee interviews; report writing; liaising with external agencies; and briefing. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: All Operations SMEs are required to: *Be deployable to the required theater of operations.

  • At least ten years experience in increasingly responsible positions in one or more military, academic or defense industry functional areas OPS SME SDE / OPS SME DEST require: *Multi-Discipline Intelligence/General Military Intelligence/All Source Intelligence Analysis Experience *High proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint *Must be capable of effectively coordinating with diverse groups of analysts (military, civilian, academic, law enforcement) and possess an outgoing personality (comfortable independently making new contacts and maintaining them) *Ability to work effectively independently, and integrate quickly into a small team of seasoned professionals in a results-oriented high stress/high operational tempo environment *Experience as an exploitation analyst with training and experience in IEDs, Middle Eastern culture, and Multi-Discipline/General Military Intelligence/HUMINT analysis is preferred. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: *No college degree required. CLEARANCES: *TS/SCI OTHER: *May be required to bear arms as prescribed by the supported unit commander while deployed. *CONUS: Work location is Reston, VA *OCONUS: Candidates will be required to deploy OCONUS to locations.
  • Standard work week while deployed will be up to 84 Hours per week.
