Answers inside and outside calls to the main hospital switchboard. Handles emergency team notifications. Interacts with employees and departments for directory, paging and on call schedule information.

Work requires a high school level of educational development and six to twelve months of previous experience. Typing and or keyboard experience at 30 words per minute. Ability to spell and pronounce basic words, names and basic medical terminology.Work requires the cognitive and conversational skills to gather and interpret information or problems in a high volume medical call center.Work requires the ability to exchange information, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.
