Position Title

: Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

Position Details:
  • Support current production and non-production Oracle databases
  • System and process improvements, guiding future decisions on enterprise level services
  • Conduct technical analysis, produce technical SME and strategy recommendations
  • Design, build, and maintain Oracle Databases, support system rollouts, respond to and troubleshoot escalated operational issues
  • Manage internal and external customer relationships, inform and advise project managers and stakeholders about project plans and implementations
  • Provide technical guidance to three Oracle DBAs, regarding projects, daily issue resolution, and process development
  • Mentor, provide guidance, and professionally develop other Oracle DBAs.
  • Work with the team to automate processes and procedures, creating efficiencies
  • Create and maintain Oracle and MS SQL Server databases
  • Monitor database performance, identify performance problems and make adjustments to database parameters as needed.
  • Identify problem SQL and work with developers to improve it
  • Monitor logs for errors, research solutions and work with Oracle Support to resolve if needed
  • Monitor CPU, memory and space usage of existing databases, and project future usage for current and planned databases
  • Support database users with various database issues including client software installation, database connectivity, and query tool use.
  • Participate in an On-Call rotation
Experience Profile


  • 8+ years working as an Oracle DBA managing mission critical databases
  • Expertise with Oracle 11g RAC, including design/architecture, best practices, installation, troubleshooting, tuning, administration
  • Experience functioning as a Senior DBA with advanced responsibility
  • Experience supporting 24x7 production systems
  • Experience supporting a variety of applications including high transaction volume ERP systems
  • Experience installing and configuring Oracle databases
  • Basic performance tuning, SQL, backup and recovery using RMAN
  • Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager


  • Sufficient UNIX skills to administer databases, UNIX shell scripting skills to support databases
  • Documentation for systems and processes/procedures
  • Understanding of change control processes
  • Advanced Oracle DBA Skills
  • Data Guard, Oracle ASM, AWR, Tuning Pack, tkprof, etc.
  • Advanced Performance Tuning of SQL and Oracle Databases, including use of
  • Good knowledge of key infrastructure areas

UNIX administration, network, SAN, etc.)

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Understand IT security best practices for technical environments and data management
  • Ability to easily understand the big picture as well as the detail


  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or applicable subject
  • Oracle Database Administration Certification


  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles
  • Experience as a PeopleSoft DBA
