The Order Entry Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for the quick and accurate data entry of patient, prescriber, prescription, and insurance information into Diplomat’s Rx processing and eNav™ software. This position is also responsible for obtaining, processing and adjudicating patient prescription claims to insurances from various disease states, coordinated through a central intake environment including, but not limited to: Oncology, Immunology, Multiple Sclerosis, HIV, Transplant, General Patient Care and Hepatitis.
This position reports to the Lead Order Entry Pharmacy Technician(s).
There are no direct reports to this position.
Education : High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
Licensing/Certification : Pharmacy Technician Certification is required. If not certified at time of hire, employee must obtain certification within 210 days of hire date.
Experience : A minimum of one year working experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably having Rx processing and data entry experience is preferred. Prior experience as a customer service representative, pharmacy clerk, or experience from a health care position in another related field such as a hospital, doctor’s office, insurance company or clinic is required in place of working pharmacy experience.
Strong customer service background.
Must be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task.
Be able to work well with various personalities and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Should be organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
Must be dependable and maintain required levels of confidentiality.
Comfortable with basic math skills including but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals.
Physical : Sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk or cubicle. Walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and capable of lifting 35 pounds.
Mental : Detail oriented and analytical with general math skills as well as some mechanical aptitude.
Language : Fluent in English with outgoing personality that translates to phone skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Reasoning : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Technology : Comfortable in Windows based operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook and general knowledge of Internet navigation and research, e-mail, fax transmission and copy machine/scanning equipment.
A climate controlled office environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer inbound calls from patients, doctors, and insurance companies in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
Enter patient, doctor, insurance and prescription information quickly and accurately into the computer system and process claims for adjudication.
Call doctors and insurance companies to verify prescriptions, prior authorizations, overrides, special medication approval, etc. as well as call patients to obtain additional information such as demographics and insurance when applicable.
Use eNav™ software to record incoming and outbound contact attempts to and from patients, doctors, and insurance companies.
Use eNav™ software to record the receipt of prescriptions including the script itself, chart notes and insurance information as well as record the dates and times received and any applicable authorization numbers and pharma referral information.
Communicate and transmit prescriptions to the Centers of Excellence via eNav™
