Outpatient Coding Educator
Duration: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Manchester NH
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday

Associates or Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or related field is preferred
Required 5 years recent coding experience
Required 2 years coding auditing experience in a health care setting preferred
Management or teaching experience preferred
Experience with 3M and other encoding software tools
Epic experience highly desired
Certification/Licensure: AHIMA and/or AAPC Coding Certification(s) CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCS-P required
Dual Hospital and Professional Coding Certifications a plus
RHIA, RHIT desirable
Perform operational functions of the Clinical Coding Education and Quality program, which includes tracking quality metrics; monitoring programs; and implementing coding education initiatives, for all coders and medical staff to support the health systems mission.
Perform coding quality audits of records for ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and APC assignment
Develop and present education materials to coders and providers
Participate in ICD-10 readiness efforts, including training of coders and providers.
Enhance and improve Clinical Documentation Improvement programs by working closely with coders, providers and other departments including, but not limited to, clinicians, Case Management, hospital departments, and EPN and EPS practices
Provide coding training and education to clinical staff, practices, and hospital departmental staff
Monitor and track quality metrics to ensure functions of the coding team are performed with a high degree of accuracy
