Nature of Work: Assist Parks and Recreation Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator with all aspects of publicizing, promoting and organization of the GIVE 365 volunteer program. This includes, but is not limited to, collaboratively creating and implementing volunteer experiences at the city’s recreation facilities, promote the volunteer achievements of the program through quarterly publications, presentations, and press releases. Assisting in the promotion the volunteer program, including actively recruiting volunteers to perform a wide variety of activities, tracking voluntary hours and activities on computer database, organizing volunteer special events and training. Assist with other aspects of Parks and Recreation within the service unit, workdays, events, etc…
Required Qualifications: Past supervisory experience. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start of employment. Must have a valid Driver’s License
Desirable Qualifications: Excellent technical writing and editing skills. Detail oriented. Excellent verbal communication skills. Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers. Friendly, outgoing personality, suitable for working with the public.
The incumbent must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as he/she may be required to drive a vehicle for local travel. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Work Schedule: Because of the nature of working with volunteers, weekend and evening hours will be required. Normally, the work schedule will be set for 5-6 days per week with the average expected number of hours worked per week being approximately 20 - 30. This is a 10-month, seasonal/temporary position.
