Status: Part Time Hourly
FLSA classification: Non-exempt
Pay rate: $10 an hour
Schedule 2-6 pm Monday-Friday
Company Information: Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. (YAP) is one of the largest non-profit Youth and Family Support agencies working with high-risk youth and their families in the United States. Currently, YAP employs more than 2,100 dedicated workers and serves approximately 12,000 families per year. Our mission is to engage human service systems so that they rely less on institutional care and invest more in supporting families and neighborhoods. We currently work with child welfare, juvenile justice, behavioral health, disability, and education systems to develop and offer community-based alternatives for the highest risk children, young people, young adults and families.
Summary of the Position: The primary responsibility of the After School Advocate is to initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct after school educational services to assigned clients and their families. After School Advocate will provide comprehensive educational after school programming with instruction in gang awareness and refusal strategies, protective factors development and delinquency prevention through positive social and educational attitudes development. All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors generally preferred; commensurate experience in community-based agency program or High School Diploma. Knowledge of community resources; Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and car insurance limits of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability. This position requires background checks to be completed. At least 3 years experience in providing after school program services to elementarymiddle school populations. Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written. Experience in the provision of home and community-based services.
