PARAPROFESSIONAL - SPECIAL EDUCATION
NATURE OF WORK:
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of instructional support duties involved in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of special education students in a classroom; and to perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
NATURE OF EXAMINATION:
The examination will consist of a 50% weighted written examination and a 50% weighted oral examination. Candiddates must pass each part of the recruitment process. This will include a screening of applications for qualifications, a written proficienty test (Math, English and Ability to Assist) and an oral board interview. THE MATH AND ENGLISH PORTION OF THE WRITTEN TEST CAN BE WAIVED by providing proof of an A.A. degree, or higher college degree - OR - proof of passing the Paraprofessional written test at the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE.)
Prior to employment, all applicants MUST provide a negative PPD Skin Test (Tuberculosis).
Prior to employment, all applicants are subject to a fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). Authorization of employment will not be granted until fingerprint clearance from the DOJ has been accepted.
