The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Buffalo Medical Group offers an ASHP Accredited Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy residency with a focus on ambulatory care. Strengths of this program are Teaching and Research. The resident receives training in various disease state management areas including Diabetes, Heart Disease Risk Reduction, MTM, Medication Reconciliation, and Hospital Discharge Counseling. The resident will also spend time dispensing and counseling at a local Independent Pharmacy. The majority of clinical rotations are scheduled in a longitudinal manner over the course of the year to provide the resident with ample opportunity to follow patients over time. The resident participates in many aspects of pharmacy including drug information, a research project, quality improvement initiatives, medication use process, patient-centered MTM with interdisciplinary teams, practice management, practice related education/training, medical informatics and formulary management.
Buffalo Medical Group (BMG) is a Multi-Specialty Physicians' Group that has Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition. Clinical Pharmacy is highly respected and integral part of patient care services. BMG has 3 main locations; one is located in the center of the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Complex in downtown Buffalo, NY. Another is located 15 minutes south of the city in Orchard Park. Must possess a PharmD degree conferred by an ACPE Accredited University and be eligible for pharmacist licensure in New York State.
