The primary purpose of the position is provide comprehensive pharmacy services to School of Medicine patients, provide input on patient treatment by interdisciplinary participation, and provide pharmaceutical and disease state related information to physicians, clinical staff, and patients.

The employee must provide a wide range of drug information as it relates to dosage, drug allergies, drug interactions, and polypharmacy. The employee must review profiles prior to medication dispensing, supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation of medical products, and counsel patients concerning drug information.

The employee must be familiar with each patient's disease, the stage of the disease process, and the medication/treatment regime chosen for the patient. The employee must have a working knowledge of the disease classes, the states of disease and pathophysiology, as it relates to pharmacology. The employee must use this information to participate in patient treatment decisions as part of an interdisciplinary team.

This is a part-time temporary position which will be evaluated for transition to a permanent part-time position on or around November 20, 2012.


The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital). Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of North Carolina.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 78 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
