Critical Action Items:

  • Maintain safety and supervision of children at all times.
  • Alert Parent Educator should medical or urgent needs arise.
  • Will provide positive interactions, nurturance, and supervision of the children without interruption from outside sources until relieved.
  • Ensure the personal hygiene of each child by having the parent check their diaper/bottoms when they drop the child off. Similarly, the Childcare Worker will ensure the child is clean upon end of shift (as permitted by parent).
  • Supervise and promote positive interactions between the children, encouraging children to be respectful.
  • Model appropriate behavior setting an example for children.


  • Measurable Deliverables:

  • Arrive on time, 15 minutes before class begins and remain 15 minutes after class for clean-up (for an average total of 2hrs per shift).
  • Sign-in at the beginning of each shift to verify time worked with Parent Educator.
  • Obtain signed Consent From for each child from parent/caregiver and submit to Parent Educator.
  • Participate in on-going training as coordinated by supervisor.


  • Other Responsibilities:

  • Applies working knowledge of parent-child interaction, child development, and dynamics of child abuse/neglect to teach positive parenting and non-violent child management techniques.
  • Notify Parent Educator ASAP when unable to attend assigned shift.
  • Does not engage in distracting activities such as cell phone use, television watching, etc.
  • Cooperate and communicate with Parent Educators and other co-workers to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Communicate childcare supply needs to supervisor.
  • Ensure children are easily identifiable by providing name tags for each child.
  • Maintain confidentiality of child and parent at all times.
  • Wear BCFS ID badge and program shirt at each shift.
  • Be prepared to work the entire shift.
  • Utilize good judgment and the ability to act in an independent and reasonable manner.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications

    Education: Not required

    Experience: Prefer one-year experience working with children and/or families

    Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation, and clear driving record as applicable.
  • Must maintain current driver’s license, or other photo identification.
  • Must maintain a working telephone or other reliable means of communication co-workers can be accessed in case of urgent needs.
  • Be available to cover a co-workers' shift as needed.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs.
