Description/Job Summary SUMMARY
Assists in the administration of various payroll, employee compensation and benefit plans such as life, health, dental, and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and unemployment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize company benefits and payroll software to process employee status and benefits changes.

Enrolls new employees in benefit plans and provides benefits orientation. Processes status changes and reviews claims.

Contacts vendors to maintain files, process claim investigate discrepancies and provide information as needed. Provide vendors appropriate documentation for life, pension, and disability benefits claims.

Assist in preparing materials and in presenting benefit plan changes to employees. Processes leave of absence approvals and rejections.

Respond to notifications from state agency regarding unemployment claims. Issues annual individual summary of benefits to employees.

Maintains employee benefit files and other record keeping. Provide support to the payroll and HR functions including but not limited to processing payroll, performing maintenance, issuing checks and direct deposits, preparing reports and reconciliations.

Draft and prepare departmental correspondence. Design and use spreadsheets.

Prepare power point presentations for training and communication purposes. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data.

Focuses on solving conflict through reason and application of policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality; Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things. Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time.

Associates degree from two-year College or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present oral and written information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Book keeping – conduct telephone communications in a professional manner.
