Summary: Responsible for performing the primary functions of a Medical Assistant. Works to facilitate processes with other departments, personnel, and insurance companies to coordinate patient care. Answers phones, schedules patient appointments, handles pre-certifications and referrals. Maintains accurate and current patient records. Maintains a pleasant, efficient, and well-organized working environment. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Principle Accountabilities: % Of
1. Coordinates patient flow by scheduling appointments, checking in patients upon arrival, confirming demographic information and insurance, confirming or obtaining referrals as appropriate, and collecting co-pays. 5%
2. Performs office duties to include, but not limited to answering phones and directing phone calls, or taking and relaying messages appropriately. 10%
3.Prepares patient charts and maintains electronic patient chart records. Processes test results, digital imaging, consulting documents, referrals and patient prescription requests in a timely manner. 40%
4.Responsible for scheduling patients for tests and procedures, obtaining necessary insurance authorization, and providing patients with instructions. 5%
5.Responsible for rooming patients, including recording weight and vital signs. 20%
6.Prepares and administers vaccinations under the direction of a physician. 5%
7.Maintains medication samples in an orderly and secure manner 5%
8.Co-ordinates the activities of Pharmacy representatives within the practice 5%
9.Performs other work duties as assigned. 5%
At least three years of experience in medical office or hospital department, or graduate of MA program and greater than two years of medical assisting experience.
Basic computer skills required. Good verbal and documentation skills required.
The assessment, care and treatment provided by the medical assistant will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The medical assistant is competent to care for patient age groups consistent with the specialties of the physician(s) in the practice.
High school diploma required.
Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling.
