The University of Florida Department of Medicine ( DOM ) is searching for a leader in Palliative Care. Given the relative newness of this field, DOM is looking to hire a Director of Palliative Care Service with a career path to chief of Palliative Care over a 2-3 year period, depending on successful completion of goals. Initially the job duties will be the development of a consult service including staff scheduling, education, marketing, quality assurance and data monitoring, interfacing with Hospice, as well as management of controlled growth. Resources available would be an ARNP fellowship trained in Palliative care, office space and supplies, Social Work and administrative services matched to growth of the service. Participation in budgeting process would also be expected.
Future direction for the service as well as timing of initiatives would be determined by needs of the institution as well as desires of the leadership team including the service director, DOM Chair and Vice Chair and Shands leadership. These would include implementation of an annual CME , a Palliative care unit, Emergency Department and Ambulatory services, and a Fellowship program.
MD degree or equivalent and eligible to obtain a Florida Medical License.
