Manage and execute projects in the area of diesel engine research for heavy duty on-highway applications; develop new and innovative concepts to improve engine efficiency; present project summaries to internal and external audiences; engage in business development activities including marketing and proposal preparation; publish project activity in technical journals such as SAE; mentor junior staff.
    Requires a MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least a 3.5 GPA. Candidate should have a minimum of 7 years experience with at least 5 years of industry experience in heavy duty diesel engine research and development, and have a strong technical background in combustion and thermodynamics. Expertise in combustion research, control strategy development, calibration, and advanced combustion concept analysis is desired. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to innovate and develop new technologies and/or concepts; must have experience with modern data acquisition techniques as well as combustion and emissions analysis; knowledge of engine simulation software such as GT Power is desired; must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, with evidence of technical writing capability in the form of SAE journal publications or equivalent; experience with waste heat recovery systems is desired; project management experience is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
