Teach a variety of courses in the subject area. Classes could range from Literacy to Level 5, including Conversation and Computer classes
Classes may be offered at any one of our locations: Palm Desert, Indio, Mecca/Thermal, Palm Springs
Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening or on weekends.
Part-time faculty assignments are filled on an as needed basis utilizing this open and ongoing applicant pool. The number of available openings will vary from semester to semester. Qualified candidates will be contacted by the division should a vacancy arise.
(1)A bachelor’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or teaching English to speakers of other languages.
(2) A bachelor’s degree in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.
(3) A bachelor’s degree with any of the majors specified in sub-paragraph (2) above; and one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first two years of employment as a noncredit instructor.
(4) Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL.
Unofficial Transcripts and / or certificates documenting proof of the minimum qualifications listed above are required and must be attached to applications for consideration. Applications missing the above required documentation will not be considered.
If you do not clearly meet the minimum qualifications as they are defined, you must submit an equivalency request form along with your application materials.
