This Packaging Engineer / Sr Packaging Engineer position will support the $1.1B Enhancers Category within the Enhancers & Snack Nuts Business Unit located in Glenview, IL. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical leadership for packaging development and to identify and commercialize technologies to advance productivity, growth and quality objectives of the Enhancers business. This role interacts broadly with business partners in Integrated Supply Chain, RDQ&I, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Finance, and external packaging suppliers.
Provide packaging R&D leadership on business, operations, and technical project teams
Provide packaging expertise in materials and packaging process systems with focus on rigid packaging technologies
Independently lead packaging development initiatives from concept to commercialization
Manage technical timelines, provide timely communication, raise issues and risks, and develop contingency plans leveraging strong project management skills
Coordinate and conduct functional testing including lab testing, plant trials, package component qualifications, and other evaluations
Responsible for identifying, defining and solving technical packaging challenges
Collaborate with suppliers to identify new technology opportunities and leverage supplier resources and tools
This position may require 30% travel to manufacturing and packaging supplier facilities as needed.
- BS in Packaging or Chemical Engineering
- Willing to travel 30%
- 3 years minimum of technical packaging experience in the food or CPG industry
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage vendors and teams
- Strong problem solving, leadership and influence skills
- Experience in Packaging Development and commercialization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
