Completed application, resume and two current letters of recommendation.
Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
Valid CA driver's license,
Ability to pass basic proficiency exam in reading, writing and mathematics.
Experience working in Special Education.
Experience in care and assistance with students or individuals with special needs.
This position is: 6 hours a day/5 days a week; work hours are: 8:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Position is itinerant and this person will be assigned daily to one of the various Special Education classrooms located in multiple communities including Woodland, Davis and West Sacramento in any of the following Special Education programs:
Horizon Program: for students with emotional disturbance, Multiple Disabilities: students age 3 to 21, Adult Living Skills Academy: classes for students in the community ages 18-22, Autism elementary and secondary classrooms, Deaf, Hard of Hearing: students age 3 to grade 6. Services for Visually Impaired students who require Braille support, Alternative Education support, and/or services for infants with various disabilities.
Proving services to students who demonstrate skills and abilities in the severe to profound range, with significant global delays in multiple domains including language (expressive and receptive), mobility, cognitive, self-care, etc.
Curriculum emphasis is on basic daily living functional skills and hygiene including toileting and feeding. High staffing ratios typically included 1 staff to 2-3 students. Responsible for supporting K-12 academic areas such as, but not limited to English Language Arts (reading and writing), mathematics, including Algebra, sciences, social studies and history as well as all other common core curriculum and subjects.
