Legal Assistant, Employment
To provide paralegal support focusing on Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration matters, as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with responding to subpoenas and similar document requests.
Draft responses to EEOC/state agency charges and document requests; may attend settlement conferences and other meetings with government agencies.
Assist with preparation of presentations and trainings programs.
Conduct basic legal research on various employment, labor and benefit law topics.
Assist with due diligence on various corporate transactions.
Assist with immigration compliance, including I-9 compliance, works permits and visas. This will involve working closely with outside immigration counsel.
Provide general assistance with employment, labor, benefits and immigration issues, as requested.
Assist with government audits and inquiries, including those from the OFCCP and DOL.
Assist with company investigations and other personnel related issues.
Drafting position statements and organizing responses to EEOC and other government agencies, requires strong writing and analytical skills.
3+ years experience as a legal assistant in the employment, labor and benefits field.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Highschool diploma or equivilent required.
Bachelor Degree Preferred.
Paralegal certificate is preferred.
Strong MS Word, excel & PowerPoint skills required.
Requires strong writing and analytical skills with capability of drafting position statements.(Writing sample required).
Strong communication and organization skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of work while under pressure of deadlines.
Ability to work independently while remaining a team player.
Attention to details.
Proficiency in Westlaw.
